New collaborations for 2022: Oceanus pairs up with non-profit partners and local communities for mangrove restoration projects

Oceanus conservation is a non-profit organization in the Philippines that focuses on advocating for the protection and restoration of blue carbon habitats. This includes mangrove forests and their surrounding wildlife. We follow nature and science-based solutions and methods for the restoration of these ecosystems. In our projects, we work with the local communities and hopefully achieve net-zero emissions. With this, we have also worked with our non-profit partners to help us achieve our goals.

Non-profit partners

Together with our partners, we were able to achieve these goals and create a bigger impact on our community. Currently, we have partnered with the University of Manchester to merge conservation and technology. We can’t wait for this and we hope you will support us in continuing our restoration efforts through games!  Also, we recently joined 1% for the Planet. They are a global organization that inspires businesses and individuals to support environmental nonprofits through membership and everyday actions.

Community Organizations

Alongside these partnered organizations, we have also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the local government units and communities. With this, our new project sites include Salay, La Union, and Cagwait, Surigao del Sur. Following this for the next 5 years, we will be assisting them with mangrove restoration projects. This includes training communities and protecting 240 ha of mangrove forests including planting diverse species to increase ecosystem benefits.

Indeed, here in Oceanus Conservation, we focus on science-based methods for our restoration projects and focusing on the long-term protection of mangrove forests all to benefit the local communities.

Lastly, we would like to thank all of our non-profit partners and the local government units of Salay and Surigao del Sur for working with us and to help us restore and protect blue carbon habitats. Together, our work can preserve and protect our mangrove forests, educate and engage with the local community, inspire and empower leaders in the local government, and invest in a sustainable planet!
